Brahmasri Ramaswami Sivan has written Kandapuranam as “Surukka Keerthanai” in tamil and it is available as text with notation. As part of our initiative to promote the wide range of compositions of ‘Sivan Brothers’ we have taken it upon us to provide a musical version of all of them and present it in our annual Maha Vaidyanatha Sivan Jayanthi. 178th Jayanthi is dedicated to this and 6 Surukka Keerthaams were presented. This is Part 1 of the series. In this event, artists have presented them along with eqivalent “Arunagirinadhar’s Thiruppugazh” . In addition a few popular krithis of Sivan Brothers were also presented. Event and the theme was very well received and we propose to continue this theme in future jayanthi events also.
